The first few days...

Here is big sister Caroline holding baby Clayton. She has now included "baby Cayton" in her running dialogue as she chatters throughout the day!

We had visits from Grandma BB and Poppa.
Clayton loves to sleep on people's chests. Here he is with Grandma BB.

Grandma Phyllis, Grandpa Ray, Aunt Kim, and cousins Sarah and Alyssa came for a visit.

Welcome baby Clayton!

Clayton Matthew Scott was born at 9:27 pm on August 8th.
He weighed 7 lb 9 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Big sister Caroline came to the hospital to meet her new baby brother.
She agreed to hold him, then told us quickly that she was "all done baby Clayton" and that she wanted to go for a walk instead.

We're now home and are excited to start getting our routine down as a family of four!

Godparents

Erica and Rick have asked us to be Godparents to their daughter, Sofia Raquel.
We are so honored and are thrilled to be her Godparents.

Aunt Meredith & Uncle Dan

"My Aunt Meredith and Uncle Dan were in town and I got to play with them on Sunday. It was SO much fun! I miss them when they're all the way back in California. They brought me this cool jewelry box. THANK YOU! It is lots of fun to play with now and will be fun to fill with treasures as I grow. Im excited to see you again in a few weeks!"

38 weeks

So, I turned 38 weeks this Friday and at my doctor's appointment, the doctor said I was measuring big... awesome...just what every normally-petite pregnant woman wants to hear. She also said the baby was really high and maybe wasn't dropping down because he was too big to drop... really awesome. I've pretty much outgrown all of my maternity clothes and have resorted to wearing Kevin's T-shirts and athletic shorts on most days ... really really awesome. This pregnancy thing drags on WAY too long.

Lambs Farm

We went to Lamb's Farm again to see the farm animals.

Caroline has been talking about "riding horsies on merry-go-round" since we last went to the farm, so we rode the merry-go-round again too.
Then we had a picnic lunch on the little kid-sized picnic tables.
What a fun day she had!

Gi-normous

Could I possibly stick out ANY farther?

I am 37 weeks on Friday and am hoping I'll have this baby sometime within the next 2 weeks. I truly can't grow out anymore or I'll need to attach my belly to a walker in order to stand upright!

The busy toddler...

I am a pretty active little toddler right now. I love spinning around and around, and playing ring-around-the-rosie. I like singing songs. Mama will sing "Old MacDonald had a farm, and I sing "E-I-E-I-O!" I like running around the yard, playing drums, walking around the house in mama's flipflops, finding sticks and rocks, and digging in the dirt.

Picnic at Libertyville's "Out to Lunch"

Our town hosts an "Out to Lunch" program each Friday during the summer. Local restaurants set up food & drink booths in the town square, and a local band plays. People bring their blankets and lawn chairs and all camp out on the lawn for lunch. It was packed! We had a really good time and will surely do it again before the summer is over.

one of the joys of pregnancy

OK, we all know that pregnant women have to go to the bathroom more than normal, but this is getting a little ridiculous. I can't get through washing a few dishes without having to stop for a bathroom break! And it's not just when doing the dishes. It's also...let's see... running Caroline's bath, drinking even the smallest amount of water, not even drinking but just seeing a glass of water, standing up, breathing,... and so on and so on. I'm worse than a newly potty-trained 3-year old!

Growing with Mr. Bear - 16 months

Growing with Mr. Bear a year ago at 6 months

We went to the library today and I had told Caroline "we're getting new books at the library".
On the way there in the car, she repeated back "new books libirdy". She calls the library the "libirdy". It's those little words that they say in their own way that are so cute.

We went to visit Caroline's Godmother Erica and Godfather Rick and their twins, Sophia and Eva. It's hard to believe they are 2 months old already!

New words...

The Boo is a little parrot these days, repeating everything she hears (or trying to.) Her favorite new words are "dood it" which she says when she wants to "do it" - whether it's feeding herself the applesauce or using the swiffer on the floor; and "ee way" for "this way" when she wants to go a certain way and you are holding her. She'll point in the direction she wants to go and say "ee way".
