FROZEN party

Caroline chose a "Frozen" theme for her birthday party this year. Since we are all really into the "Frozen" movie and soundtrack, it was a really fun theme to work with.

The girls started off doing Frozen coloring sheets and cutting out Anna and Elsa paper dolls.

The girls then painted white glittery snowflake ornaments...
and made "frost paintings" on black paper with epsom salt paint.

We held a "snowman relay" that was a big hit.

Each girl got a Anna/Elsa fleece shawl to take home.

It was such a fun party! I had fun planning it, and I think the girls had fun too!

After seeing how much Caroline loved her shawl, the boys wanted one too. So I made more "boyish" versions for them.

Caroline turns EIGHT!

On February 19th, Caroline turned EIGHT years old! (and I turned thirtysomething.) I cannot believe I have an eight year old! She is growing up so fast. She is beautiful and kind. She loves singing and has a new-found love of reading. She loves the movie Frozen and really enjoys playing imaginative games with her brother Clayton.   To celebrate the evening, we went out for one of Caroline's favorite meals - sushi. Sushi and cupcakes with the people I love most - what could be better?!?

Making valentines

Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm glad I made the list of things he loves...along with his ipod and flashlights. :)

Month of Love

We started a tradition last year where we post little love notes to the kids on their doors every few days in February.  They are very simple words of love and affirmation written on post-it notes. Nothing fancy. Nothing flashy. They really get excited when they wake up in the morning and see a new note and we've found it to be a great way to tangibly show love in a way that is a little bit different than normal.

Now that the kids can write, they actually wrote a few for Kevin and I and posted them on our door.
