Apple picking!

This October, per our family tradition, we went apple picking at Oriole Springs.  Due to weather issues and soccer practice schedules this October, we almost didn't make it! Luckily, we found a Saturday that worked with decent weather, so we cruised up to Twin Lakes.
I think Austin (who doesn't even eat apples) had the most fun picking. He would have picked for hours if we'd let him!

 My boos in the trees...
Kevin loves our apple picking tradition!

Apple on top

Since we went on a Saturday this year, the cider barn was open at Harvest Time, so the kids got to watch them make cider.

First ever cub scout campout!

Outside of one camping practice-run in the backyard, this was our first camping experience.  We went to Camp Sol R Crown in Wilmot with the cub scouts.  The kids had a blast and it was a bit of a learning experience for us. The kids can't wait to camp again!

Land of the Giants Pumpkin Farm

The kids and I and our neighbor friend Macaire took a quick weekday afternoon trip to the "Land of the Giants" pumpkin farm in Wisconsin.  It is low-key, sinple, and CHEAP! The kids had a good time, despite the unexpected weather.  When we got into the car in Libertyville, it was sunny and 81 degrees (so we left our jackets and sweatshirts at home.) About 45 minutes later when we arrived at the farm, it was in the 50s with gusting winds.  It's amazing how quickly the weather can turn!

On the way home, we stopped at the iconic "brat stop" for brats.  Of course... no one ordered brats but me!

Date night!

Kindergarten ride on a fire truck

The kindergartners at St Joseph got to ride on an old-fashioned fire truck around town.  They were SO excited!  Austin even got to ride in the front seat!
