Roadtrip to Nashville

On January 5th, we said goodbye to Siesta Key and got on the road for our night destination of Birmingham, Alabama.

We definitely weren't prepared for snow, ice, and freezing temperatures in the south! Icicles! In Alabama!

Yelp led us to a southern diner "Our Place" for dinner. Good fried chicken and biscuits!
On the morning of January 6th, we made it to Nashville.
Because of the extreme and unusually low temperatures (and the fact that we did not have any winter clothing with us!), we were limited to indoor activities in Nashville.
Our first stop? Biscuit Love!
I mean- how amazing are these biscuit creations!

We then headed to the Frist Center for the Arts which had a few exhibits on the main floor and then a fantastic interactive childrens section on the top floor.
The architecture of the building alone made it worth it!

 Painting with watercolors...

 Print-making...

 Sketching figures,,,
Designing kaleidoscopes...

Pucketts Grocery for dinner...

Official bucket list item next - The Grand Ole Opry at the historic Ryman Auditorium

All the honky tonks that we are sure to visit next time!

Final stop on route to home - Fair Oaks Farm along I 65

So - did what did we learn after driving to and from Florida? Yes, it's a long car ride, but it's definitely doable!  We'll be back!
