Uncle Taylor and Aunt Jess' Wedding! Part 1

My brother Taylor wed his beautiful bride Jess on October 13th.  Caroline got to be a flower girl! (Could anything be more dreamy for a 6 year old?) Clayton and Austin got to be ring bearers - tuxedos and all! It was a wonderful occasion - gorgeous church and reception hall, beautiful and happy bride and groom, and lots of fun with extended family.  big props go to Gamma Phyl, Boppy, and Aunt Kim for doing lots of childcare and driving duties during the wedding weekend.

Stades Pumpkin Farm

For the second year in a row, we went to Stades farm to pick pumpkins and enjoy their harvest days.

 There were veggie cart rides...

a giant "jumping pillow"...

 We took a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch

 and the kids got to pick their own pumpkins!

 

 

 

 

Aprons and Caroline sign...

I actually made this this summer, but don't think I ever posted it.
Caroline's new pinafore!  I actually used a pattern instead of just winging it like I've done withe rher other aprons.

She also got a new CAROLINE banner this week. The windows look much better with the curtains I made this summer, but the window shades were kind of ugly, so I thought we'd distract the eye with a paper sign.

To make, just choose a font with good thick letters that are easy to cut out.  (I used Cairo).
Type out the name in Microsoft Word and increase the font size until it's the size you need for your sign, about one letter per page.   You can edit the letters to only show the outline (so you don't waste a lot of ink.) Then set up the printer to print the mirror image (if your printer will do this.)   If not, just print and cut out the letters.  Print on card stock.

It's awesome! You can download all kinds of cool fonts.
Pick out several cute scrapbook papers.  Roughly cut out your letters (if mirror image), or cleanly cut out (if printed normally). Use Rubber cement or something similar to glue your  mirror image letters to the back of scrapbook paper.  Cut out. Hole punch at the top and thread through a ribbon.

Worldwide Day of Play

I took C, C, and A to Vernon Hills' Worldwide Day of Play last weekend where they had mini golf on tables, sack races, a treasure hunt in the sandbox, and other fun games. The favorite (for the kids, not for the mom) was definitely hunting for pennies and treasures in the sand.

Korean food!

With Daddy out of town, I took the kids to one of their favorite restaurants - BlueHouse Korean Barbeque.   I think my kids are pretty typical and aren't highly experimental with very ethnic foods. But for whatever reason, ever since they tried korean food a few years ago, they have been in love with it!  We do always get the same thing, but they truly love it and ask for it all the time.

While my sister Meredith moved into her house, I got to watch her 2 little ones - almost-3 year old Kellan and 16 month ol Makenna.  We took a walk to a little preschool pumpkinfest and hay ride.  I love the comment from one of the Dads there ... "Are all of those YOURS?"
 I thought watching 5 kids 6 and under would make me batty. It didn't! It actually made me yearn for more children!  (For anyone reading this - it's not in the cards -just to clear up any misconceptions...)

Here is Caroline riding a 2 wheeler. She learned how at the beginning of September and LOVES riding her "new" bike! The first thing she asks every day when she gets home from school is "Can I ride my bike????"
