Beware of the flying pee pee!

We had our first significant flying pee pee incident. Yes, they warn you, but you never seemed quite prepared enough. Sure enough, I was changing Clayton's diaper, when all of a sudden, the little "pee pee" sprouted a leek. He is a squirmy baby, especially when being changed, so as he wiggled, the pee pee did little circles, moving back and forth and spraying tinkle every which way. It truly was like one of those lawn sprinklers that sprays in a rotating circle. After shrieking (me, not him) and grabbing for anything to contain the little sprinkler, I look down and notice wet drops everywhere - on the table, on his face, on his clothes, on my clothes...even in his ear!
Changing my little boy's diaper definitely will take some getting used to!

Rewinding back to August 8th...

On the morning of August 8th, I woke up at about 4:00 am not feeling all that well. Curiously enough, I also had a major craving for a doughnut from this little local doughnut shop by our house. At about 6:00 am, "not feeling well" had turned into contractions, and the doughnut craving raged on. Kevin offered to go get me a doughnut, but I convinced Kevin that I was OK to drive and really wanted to go myself. I hopped into the car and drove to the doughnut store. While the man was packaging up my sugary treats, I noticed a chalkboard on the wall. Written on the board was a single quote - "Lord, help me remember that nothing is going to happen to me today that you and I together can't handle."
It was a little sign from God, a reassurance that He would get me through the delivery of my baby. I snapped a picture of the board on my camera-phone and Kevin read it to me throughout the day and night until Clayton was born. What an amazing God we have that led me to just the right place at just the right time to see his message of reassurance.

The two kids...

Hmmm...getting a picture with TWO kids is a whole different ball game. One little squirm from Clayton and Caroline gets a little nervous holding him.

Snoozing in his "going home" outfit.

BIG yawn!

Meeting Uncle Taylor

Meeting Cousin Mary Beth

Who needs toys? One of Caroline's favorite "toys" at the moment is the jar of vaseline. When she sees it, a big mischevious smile crosses her face as she exclaims "vaseen!" She takes the top on and off and then slyly sticks a finger in...

Taking a peek at "baby Cayton"

The first few days...

Here is big sister Caroline holding baby Clayton. She has now included "baby Cayton" in her running dialogue as she chatters throughout the day!

We had visits from Grandma BB and Poppa.
Clayton loves to sleep on people's chests. Here he is with Grandma BB.

Grandma Phyllis, Grandpa Ray, Aunt Kim, and cousins Sarah and Alyssa came for a visit.

Welcome baby Clayton!

Clayton Matthew Scott was born at 9:27 pm on August 8th.
He weighed 7 lb 9 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Big sister Caroline came to the hospital to meet her new baby brother.
She agreed to hold him, then told us quickly that she was "all done baby Clayton" and that she wanted to go for a walk instead.

We're now home and are excited to start getting our routine down as a family of four!

Godparents

Erica and Rick have asked us to be Godparents to their daughter, Sofia Raquel.
We are so honored and are thrilled to be her Godparents.

Aunt Meredith & Uncle Dan

"My Aunt Meredith and Uncle Dan were in town and I got to play with them on Sunday. It was SO much fun! I miss them when they're all the way back in California. They brought me this cool jewelry box. THANK YOU! It is lots of fun to play with now and will be fun to fill with treasures as I grow. Im excited to see you again in a few weeks!"

38 weeks

So, I turned 38 weeks this Friday and at my doctor's appointment, the doctor said I was measuring big... awesome...just what every normally-petite pregnant woman wants to hear. She also said the baby was really high and maybe wasn't dropping down because he was too big to drop... really awesome. I've pretty much outgrown all of my maternity clothes and have resorted to wearing Kevin's T-shirts and athletic shorts on most days ... really really awesome. This pregnancy thing drags on WAY too long.
