Austin's very scary accident

So, on Friday afternoon, Austin had a terrifying bike accident. He rode up a bike ramp that his brother and friend made. From all the people I've talked to, supposedly it's a rite of passage for a boy to ride his bike up a homemade bike ramp. I've also learned that these incidents never seem to end well. We didn't witness the accident in person nor did we know how he fell until a few days later. We went to the ER because he came into the house screaming and covered in blood. It looked like a big chunk was missing from above his lip. THankfully, no stitches were needed.
Little did we know that the lacerations were not the worst of this accident.
A few days later, Clayton found the slow-motion video that his friend had taken of the accident.  Watching it set my blood cold. It is horrifying.  The bike flipped and Austin flew through the air, landing on his face, with his body continuing in a circular motion so that his neck bent back the opposite way it is supposed to. After showing it to the pediatrician, she stated that she is SHOCKED that he doesn't have both a concussion and a broken neck.  My little boy's future could have been irreversibly altered on that day.  He could be paralyzed.
I thank GOD that he saw fit to give us a miracle and protect my baby from such a horrendous injury.  I will always be truly thankful.
