snack
Do you think someone wanted a snack? This was the scene I came upon when I left Clayton alone in the kitchen for a minute.

Fat pants!
Today is a good day. I was able to get into my "fat pants"! Yes, normally a girl does not celebrate when she has put on some lbs and must wear the dreaded fat pants. However, when you are moving from MATERNITY pants to fat pants, they seem like a reward. No elastic waist. No maternity band. No drawstring. Hurray! Sure, it will be quite a while before I fit into my regular pants, but for now I am happily enjoying regular button-front pants a size or 2 larger!

Austin Michael
The boy and his broom
My funny little bug...he has fascinations with such odd things. He is absolutely wacko over brooms. He flips out with excitement every time he sees one in a book. If we even go near the garage (which is where he have ours), he begs for me to get it for him. He loves to drag it around. Here he is going on a walk with BB and a broom.

Growing with Mr. Bear
Growing with Mr. Bear - Austin's first!
Growing with Mr. Bear - 5 days old
Growing with Mr. Bear - 5 days old
Growing with Mr. Bear - 19 months
Thank you!
Oh, I have so many "thank you"s to say, I don't even know where to begin. Where would my family be without the loving help and support from my mom, Kevin's mom, and other friends and family. They have given so much of their time to help us out this past week. They have taken such good care of Caroline and Clayton. They have made us meals. They've sent us wine (ah yes, finally I can drink a glass!). They've brought flowers and gifts for all the kids.
I am so grateful to all of you. God has blessed us with so many wonderful people to have in our lives. We are eternally thankful to all of you!

Oh what a night...and morning...
Well, here it is St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, one day before my due date and still no baby. Both Caroline and Clayton were 9 and 10 days early, so I had expected about the same with #3. Nope. I've tried just about every natural way to induce labor and this kid just refuses to budge - walking, acupressure, carrying two 26+ pound toddlers on top of my big belly, Liberty doughnuts (which is what I had the morning before I had Clayton), and a variety of other things. I got desperate last night and even tried drinking castor oil. (Very very disgusting with very very disgusting and uncomfortable side effects.) Well, the side effects came, as did many contractions, but no labor and no baby. Ugh. And as a cruel twist of fate would have it, I ended up driving to the hospital this morning. Was it to have a baby like I had hoped? No. It was to take Clayton to "sick call" at the doctor's office after he woke up at 2:30 am and screamed pretty inconsolably from 3:30 am until 7:00. (It turns out the poor kid has a double ear infection.) This baby just refuses to budge. It has definitely been a rough month. We've all been sick and right now Caroline is the only one well! I swear we've gone through more kleenex than we ever have. To top it all off, after a rough night of no sleep for me (again), I stopped at Starbucks to treat myself to a Frapaccino. Well, for the third time this month (yes I've had to treat myself several times this month), they tried to switch my order to a non-fat drink. What gives? Do they look through their little camera, see my big belly and say "she's too fat for the regular drink. Give her the fat-free version instead." I'm PREGNANT and happen to stick out like I'm having multiples, but I'm not fat so give me the friggin' drink I ordered, thank you very much!

my little mud-man
The weather was unexpectedly gorgeous today, so I let the kids play in the backyard...more accurately described as the mud yard.
After an hour of play, both kids were covered in mud. Clayton even went a step further and face-planted in the mud so he was running around in "black face". My silly little mud-man!

Quirky interests
I have learned that each child develops quirky interests all their own. When she was little, Caroline was obsessed with socks. She carried them with her all over the house, put multiple pairs on each foot, packed them in her purses, and wore them on her hands. There were never any socks in her drawer because they always ended up all over the house. Clayton has a similar obsession with spoons (which he calls "dumas". ) He likes to carry around one little wooden spoon and one other spoon. Even when he is trying to play with other toys, he likes to hold them, making it sometimes more difficult to play. However, take one away and he flips out and laments "DUMA!!!!!" He is also obsessed with the canister vacuum. He likes to take the hose and drag it around or just move the hose into different positions. Then he hops on and rides the vacuum. (For some reason this is more fun than our actual ride-on toys that make noise, display lights, etc.)
Oh my funny little bugs. How I love them so.

The other day I found them both inside the baby doll cradle together.
Sure, there are times when they aren't nice to eachother or are jealous, but all in all, they really do love eachother and like eachother's company!
