Airport Outing

On Tuesday afternoon, I surprised the kids with an outing to the Palwaukee airport in Wheeling. We found a great spot right next to the runway and had a blast watching the small planes take-off and land.  The kids would scan the sky and start screaming with excitement when they spotted a plane making its way around the airport to the southern runway.  They would then "run with the plane" as it descended, landed, and zoomed down the jetway.

After our plane viewing, my hungry plane-watchers and I went to Red Robin for hamburgers and tried out the new "Swirl Cup" frozen yogurt place in Lincolnshire.

It was a GREAT afternoon.  The only negative was a very upset Clayton after his grip on his green balloon loosened and the balloon soared up to the clouds. His engineer-mind was racing as he tried to figure out a way to retrieve it. But to no avail. He was distraught.  Luckily, the frozen yogurt proved to be the perfect distraction!
