Thursday, August 13 - Camping at Kettle Moraine

We went camping at Kettle Moraine - Ottawa lake campground on Thursday, August 13th.  We had such great luck earlier in the summer at Harrington Beach, that we wanted to give camping another round, but try a different campground. This time around, we had a drive-in site, so we could unpack our stuff right from the car instead of having to pack it up on a wagon and haul it. While I like the seclusion of the walk-in sites, the convenience of the drive in sites is pretty nice!

Our campsite was a short walk away from a beach. My kids, of course, found an amazing tree to climb.

I tried my hand at a campfire apple cobbler.  It was met with mixed reviews.

We hiked part of the "ice age trail" - through wood and prairie. (The Ice Age Trail goes all the way through the state of Wisconsin.)

It got quite hot on our hike, so we all cooled off at the beach.

I would say that our second solo camping trip was a success!
